PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota State Transportation Commission has given approval to proposed changes to language in the speed zone rules for Hughes and Stanley Counties. Department of Transportation Legal Counsel Karla Engel says the changes are needed because of Senate Bill 39, that will rename Euclid Avenue as Highway 1889…
Highway 1889 will go from Sioux Avenue at the Federal Building to the junction with state Highway 1804. Highway 1804 will be extended to meet the new Highway 14 at Garfield Avenue. Director of Planning and Engineering Mike Behm says that is to keep continuity with the state’s highway system…
The highway name changes are also being reflected in administrative rules regarding combination vehicles…
The Interim Rules Review Committee of the South Dakota Legislature will consider final approval of the rule changes in June. Pending approval the roads will switch names July 1st.
