Over the next three days, teams from around the state will travel to Sioux Falls for the Track and Field State meet. All area teams will have representation at the state meet.
Pierre
On a historic year, the Pierre Governors will look for multiple place winners and possibly multiple state champions as the Governors broke numerous school records to date. Pierre has a total of 40 athletes competing in the state meet with 20 on each side. Pierre also has 10 relay teams, five on each side. Sully Buttes
The Sully Buttes Chargers will have Payge Bakker competing in the shot put and discus while Olivia Olson will have the 200 meter run and 300 meter hurdles. Annaliese Van Zee will throw the javelin and Tomi White the shot put. On the boys side, Gavin Barber will run in the 100 and 400 meters while Kadyn Westergren will throw the shot put.
Stanley County
The Stanley County Buffaloes will see two girls compete at the state meet as Kaysen Magee will run in the 400 and Raegan Taylor will compete in the triple jump. The Stanley County boys, however, will have four relay teams, the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800 and sprint medley relay race. Paxton Deal will also compete in the long jump.
Miller
For the Miller Rustlers, Pierce Baumberger will run in the 3200 meters and Isaak Hunter will go at the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. For the girls, the Rustlers will have Faith Baumberger throw the shot put and Paige Werdel in the long jump.
Highmore-Harrold
The Highmore-Harrold Pirates will be competing with six different girls which includes Autumn Fallis who will be the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The boys side will have five members competing which includes a 4×800 relay race and also Brooks McPeak running in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.
Potter County
The Potter County Battlers are looking to be dialed in for a lot of place winners as a total of 10 girls and seven boys will participate along with four girls relays and another two boys relays. Finlee Heien and Dannika Kaup will both run in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles while Jaycee Stevens will run in both the 1600 and 3200 meters. Jhett Simon will have the 100 and 200 meter runs.
Lyman
Nine Lyman Raider girls and five Raider boys will be at the state meet this weekend as Cole Kieffer will be competing the 110 and 300 meter hurdles along with the high jump while Aksel Ehlers will be in the high jump and pole vault. Brooke Montgomery will run in both the 100 and 200 meters while Lyman will have three relay races.
Jones County
The Jones County Coyotes will have a total of 12 athletes competing with six boys and six girls. BreAna Aske will compete in the 200 meter and 400 meter runs while also participating in the long jump. Asa Best will be running the 200 meters and the long jump on the boys side. There will be four boys relay races for the Coyotes.
The day begins at 10:00 AM with the Class B girls pole vault and the running events start at 11:00 AM with the girls 100 meter hurdle prelims. You can see a schedule below for all three days of the event.
