The Oahe Zap are 1-2 to start the 2025 season with a Friday night win 15-8, but falling on Sunday in a doubleheader 2-1 and 7-3 to the Casper Spuds on the road.
On Friday, Oahe had just two extra base hits, both doubles from Jack Daily and nine total hits, but used 13 walks to their advantage to the opening night win. Daily went 3-6 with those two doubles and had a game high four RBI for the Zap. Quinn Lidvigsen had three runs driven in and Noah Codina had two RBI for the Zap. Oahe used three pitchers with Easton Pratt throwing the most with three complete innings and picked up the win.
Saturday’s game was rained out forcing two seven inning games on Sunday. In game one, Andrew Phillips had a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the third, but Matt Marsic brought home the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the bottom half of the inning on a sac fly.
In game two of the doubleheader, Casper had a 7-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh. Oahe had two quick outs before getting two runs on two different wild pitches and then another run on a bases loaded walk. Oahe had the tying run at the plate in the inning, but Ty Farwell grounded into a fielder’s choice to end the game.
Oahe will have Memorial Day off on Monday and then start a three game series on the road in Hastings on Tuesday before hosting Fremont in the home opener on Friday. First pitch Tuesday is at 7:35.
