The postseason is happening in golf and the Sully Buttes Charger boys team and Miller Rustler girls team are off to fantastic starts at the Region 5B golf tournament on Thursday.
For the boys side, both Gavin Colson and Wesley Wittler would finish one-two as Colson was one under par, 71 beating Wittler by three shots who beat third place Derek Brueggeman by five shots. Jonas Olson rounded out the top 10 with a 91 as the Chargers would win the team title and qualify the three along with Lincoln Olson for the state tournament. Miller was second and Stanley County was third as Wyatt Mortenson would get fourth for the Buffaloes shooting nine over par, 81. Ian Schweitzer would tie for tenth at 91 as the two would qualify for the Class B state tournament.
The Miller girls would go one-two as Jayce Pugh would beat teammate Kaihlyn Anderberg by 10 shots as Pugh was three over par, 74 while Anderberg was 13 over par, 84. The Chargers’ Olivia Olson was 17 over par, 88, good for third place qualifying for the state tournament.
The Class B girls state tournament will be at the Prairie Winds Golf Course in Watertown while the Class B boys state tournament will be at the Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown on Monday and Tuesday, June 2-3.
