The Pierre Governor softball team would fall to the top team in the state Harrisburg Tigers on Thursday with a 16-2 score to close the regular season.
Pierre jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second as Amber Roman and Elly Broers would score on a throwing error by the catcher which allowed Broers to score from first base. However, it would be countered by a nine run bottom of the second as the Tigers scored nine in the second and sixth in the third with another a run in the fourth. Harrisburg smacked two home runs in the game and had 15 hits. Gretchen Jungwirth had two of the five hits for the Governors in the loss.
Pierre finishes the season at 4-16 and have moved up to 15th in the standings. The SoDak 16 pairings will be set this weekend and the game will be played on Tuesday next week.
