The USHL Championship will have a winner-take-all game five on Tuesday after the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Waterloo Black Hawks each won games in Muskegon in overtime this weekend.
Friday night, Muskegon would win in double overtime, 2-1 after Waterloo tied the game early in the third period. Ivan Ryabkin would score eight minutes into the second overtime to win game three and put the Lumberjacks just a win away from winning the Clark Cup Championship. Both teams were a combined 0-9 on the power play on Friday night. Carter Sanderson did not play in game three, but returned to the lineup in game four. On Saturday, Muskegon went down 2-0 with about five minutes remaining in the third. With the goalie pulled, Muskegon made it 2-1 with a minute and five seconds left. Then in one final desperation shot, Xavier Veilleux scored with 0.1 seconds left in the period to tie the game and send it to another overtime. Just 92 seconds into the extra frame, Waterloo would win it 3-2 and force a game five back in Iowa. Sanderson recorded two shots in the loss.
The final game of the USHL season will be on Tuesday at 6:35 in Waterloo.
