Former Oahe Capital Carter Sanderson and the Muskegon Lumberjacks can win its first USHL championship in franchise history this weekend at home.
Muskegon will host the Waterloo Black Hawks in the Clark Cup Championship in games three and four on Friday and Saturday with the best-of-five series tied 1-1 after playing last weekend in Waterloo, Iowa. Muskegon has only two losses in now its fourth postseason series and after the bad start in the first period of game one, the Lumberjacks have outscored the Black Hawks 8-5. Sanderson, in his first year at the USHL level, had five goals and six assists in the regular season and has one assist so far in the postseason, on the game winning goal in the Eastern Conference Championship. He’s still looking for his first postseason goal heading into the weekend.
If the teams split the weekend games, there will be a decisive game five on Tuesday, May 20, back in Waterloo.
Puck drop is at 6:10 on Friday and game four puck drop is at 5:10 Saturday in Muskegon. Both times are Central.
