
PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Dewey County man has been sentenced to federal prison time for a sexual assault conviction. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 25 year-old Bryant Heideman of Eagle Butte was sentenced Monday to two years in federal custody on a charge of Abusive Sexual Contact. The sentence from U-S District Judge Eric Schulte includes five years of supervised release, a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victim’s fund and Heideman must register as s sex offender. Heideman was indicted by a federal grand jury in April of 2024 and entered a guilty plea to the charge in February of 2025. Ramsdell says in November of 2023 Heideman has sexual contact with a 12 year-old after allowing the teenager to stay in his house from November 13th to November14th. Ramsdell didn’t say what relationship Heideman has with the girl or why the girl needed to stay with him. Heideman was placed in the custody of the U-S Marshals Service to begin his sentence.
