The Pierre Governor tennis team will have just a couple of players remaining in the ESD Tournament as they head into day two in Watertown.
The Governors were in a lot of play-in matches in the first day of the tournament and unfortunately didn’t have the best results. Lucas Hight in flight one, Jacob Leiferman in flight two, Brady Lowery in flight four, Levi Hight in flight five and Jacoby LaRoche in flight six all lost the play-in matches and were eliminated from the ESD tournament. Noah Lueking in flight three won the play-in match, but then lost to the top seed in the flight so he will be competing for the consolation championship.
In doubles, Lueking and William Southern lost the play-in match in flight two as did Lowery and LaRoche in flight three eliminating the two doubles flights. Lucas Hight and Leiferman in flight one dropped its match the Yankton doubles top flight in the first round and will work its way to the consolation championship.
The Governors will look to score points in day two as three teams have yet to score points in the tournament. Harrisburg leads after the first day with a 150 while Mitchell is second at 130 and Yankton third with 120.
