Friday and Saturday, school from across the state and other states competed at the mid-season Howard Wood Dakota Relays. The Pierre Governors would grab three wins with a school record along with one of the fastest teams ever ran. Potter County also grab a win in a relay race.
Pierre
The Pierre Governors, sprint medley relay race consisting of the team Carson Stoeser, Carter Schiefelbein, Eladio Simental and Caleb Morris would win with a school record and third all time in the state with a time of 3:29.26. Colter Babcock would win the javelin throw for the Governors and Charlee Williams-Smith would win the 400 meter run, both setting personal records in each.
Also for Pierre, Kali Ringstmeyer would place second in the 100 meters and fifth in the 200 meter run. The team of Emlyn Swanson, Williams-Smith, Brooke Hansen and Ringstmeyer would place second in the 4×100 relay. Lennix DuPris, Swanson, Williams-Smith and Josephine Wurtz would get third in the 4×200 and DuPris, Swanson, Williams-Smith and Emery Larson would get third in the 4×400 relay race. The other top five finish for the Governors was Karson Walti, Simental, Schiefelbein and Stoeser placing fourth in the 4×100 relay race.
Sully Buttes
For the Sully Buttes Chargers, Annaleise Van Zee had a top five finish placing fourth in the javelin throw setting a new PR. Atticus Miles was the lone boy competing as he placed 35th with the javelin.
Stanley County
Stanley County’s best finish was the 4×400 relay as Landon Bame, Brendon Bothwell, Paxton Deal and Spencer Sargent would get 16th while Sargent, Bothwell, Ryland Magee and Justin Trebbe would be 24th in the 4×800.
Potter County
The Potter County Battlers had a big win in the 4×800 relay race with Dannika Kaup, Paige Ahlemeier, Jadyn Ahlemeier and Emma Schlachter winning event while Kaup, Schlachter, Ahlemeier and Finlee Heien placed third in the 4×400.
Miller
Isaak Hunter had two top ten finishes for the Miller Rustlers as he would place seventh in the 110 meter hurdles and then ninth in the 300 meter hurdles.
Jones County
The Jones County Coyotes had four top ten finishes as Thad Kierl, Bryer Kinsley, Asa Best and Adrik Schoon placed second in the 4×400 relay race while also placing third in the sprint medley relay race and seventh in the 4×200 relay race. Kinsley, Kierl, Schoon and Jace Nix were fourth in the 4×800 relay.
Lyman
The Lyman Raiders would get a top ten finish from Claire Griffith, Jordyn Scott, Bree Smart and Brooke Montgomery placing ninth in the 4×100 relay race.
Highmore-Harrold
The Highmore-Harrold Pirates would get 13th in the 4×800 relay race as Brooks McPeak, Jordan Erfman, Carter Webb and Kia McCauley would team up for the best finish for the Pirates. Autumn Fallis, Jaylynn Knox, Emma Salathe and Whitley Baloun would be 19th in the 4×400 girls relay race.
