The Pierre Governor softball team would fall to Brookings, Dakota Valley, Yankton and Watertown going 0-4 in Sioux Falls over the weekend.
Pierre would fall in a shootout in the first game of the weekend against Brookings in a 14-13 walk-off double for the Bobcats. Kimber Buys would drive in the game winning one after the Govs scored 10 runs in the final three innings. Pierre trailed 7-3 after four innings. McKenzi Flottmeyer had three RBIs for the Govs while Alivia Heymans, Ireland Templeton and Amber Roman each had two RBIs while Heymans and Noel Kist had a double. Kist took the loss on the mound giving up seven unearned runs with 17 hits, one walk and 10 strikeouts.
In game two on Friday, Dakota Valley would beat Pierre 16-7 as the Govs had another seven errors in the loss. Dakota Valley scored eight runs in the first three innings. Flottmeyer and Ally Keyes each had two RBIs each in the loss while Flottmeyer had two doubles and a triple while Keyes, Elly Broers and Kist all doubled.
On Saturday, Pierre lost for a second time this year to Yankton, 12-7. Yankton jumped out to an 8-1 lead after the first three innings and scored in all but one inning. Keyes had two runs driven in while Kist had the other RBI. Broers had a triple for Pierre.
In the final game of the weekend, the Watertown Arrows went to 2-0 against Pierre with a 10-0 win in six innings. Watertown scored four runs in the sixth to win it in shortened fashion. Pierre had nine errors in the loss and had six unearned runs. Pierre did score a total of 27 runs in four games giving up 52 runs but only 31 were earned.
Pierre is now 3-9 on the season and will be back in Sioux Falls next weekend for another weekend trip.
