The Pierre Governor baseball team would get another two wins on Saturday beating Roosevelt 4-3 and O’Gorman 9-3 finishing 3-1 on the weekend.
In game one, Pierre never trailed as they took a 2-0 lead in the second with a run scoring on an error and Carter Schiefelbein having an RBI single. Dawson Getz would double home a run in the third to make it 3-0 and then Trevor Rounds would have an RBI double in the fourth to make it 4-1. Will Danburg picked up his second win on the mound going four innings allowing three runs, one earned on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Hudson Stoeser grabbed the save allowing just one hit with four strikeouts over the final three scoreless innings.
In game two, Pierre took advantage of four O’Gorman errors and Ridge Leimbach and Getz would combine for a one hitter in the 9-3 win. Schiefelbein and Charlie Simpson each had a double while Sutton Sonnenschein had three hits including a triple. Simpson finished with two RBIs while both Schiefelbein and Danburg had an RBI each. Only three of the nine runs were earned against the O’Gorman pitching staff.
Pierre is now 5-1 on the season and 4-0 in South Dakota games. The Govs will play South Dakota games the rest of the way starting on Thursday, April 17 for the Govs home opener facing Aberdeen.
