The Pierre Governor baseball team is just about a week away from its first games of the 2025 season and had a different offseason than in previous years.
Scott Raue, who was a Pierre Post 8 coach for many years is the new head coach for the Governors taking over for Steve Gray who had been the head coach since the inception of the program. The Governor baseball players also utilized the High Performance Sports Academy building, expanding on its winter workouts. The Governors had used the Reinke Gray basement for batting practice along with coach Ryan Krueger’s garage. Now, the space had expanded and the workouts over the winter can be even more beneficial as the guys prepare for the season. Raue says it has been beneficial to have the facility heading into the year…
Raue coached for over 20 years with Post 8 and won over 550 games in his tenure which included a trip to the National Regional Tournament and Pierre always made the state tournament during his time as the coach. Raue says it’s been great getting to know the players…
This winter has been great to this point on the baseball side of things. Raue says they’ve already been able to be outside…
The Governors open the season out west taking on Stevens Friday, March 28 and Sturgis on March 29. Games throughout the season will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
