Riverfront Broadcasting News Issues Apology To Senator Kevin Jensen For Misidentification In Story

PIERRE, (KCCR) — On Thursday, February 6th 2025, Riverfront Broadcasting ran a story regarding a bill in the South Dakota legislature that would have defunded the Huron School District. In that story, the bill’s sponsor, Representative Phil Jensen of Rapid City was misidentified as Senator Kevin Jensen of Canton. Riverfront Broadcasting immediately killed the story upon learning of the error. The story was removed from the station’s website and any future newscast. A correction and apology was also posted to the station’s Facebook page and News Director Zach Nelson traveled to the South Dakota State Capitol to personally apologize to Senator Jensen. The station is also following through with a verbal promise to Senator Jensen to air a public apology and correction in Friday’s news. Riverfront Broadcasting deeply regrets the error and will work hard in the future to prevent any similar situations.
