Hunsley Comes To Plea Deal In State Employee Forgery Case

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre woman facing charges on one of multiple state government corruption cases is pleading guilty to charges in that case. A Hughes County Grand Jury indicted 64 year-old Lynn Hunsley on October 1st Hunsley pleaded guilty Monday to two of five charges against her; Forgery and Grand Theft by Deception. Hunsley’s attorney Ellery Grey told Sixth Circuit Judge Kristina Klinger Hunsley abused the position she had in the Department of Revenue but was in court to accept responsibility for her actions. Assistant Attorney General Nolan Welker told Klinger Hunsley was a state employee who abused her position, knew the system she exploited and wasn’t planning on confessing until she was caught. Hunsley tried to pay back the 12-hundred dollars in taxes she didn’t pay by altering sales documents for a travel trailer however that payment became evidence in the case. Hunsley was sentenced to a total of four years, all suspended and will serve three years of probation. She must repay 12-hundred dollars in taxes to the Department of Revenue along with 500-dollars in fines and 230-dollars in court costs.
