Oahe Takes Care of Weekend Sweep with Sunday Comeback

The Oahe Capitals boys varsity would get two wins this weekend to extend its winning streak to four with a 5-2 win on Saturday over Brandon Valley and a 7-3 win over Huron on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Capitals would lead 2-0 with Jeese Eldridge and Asher Vanden Bos scoring their first goals of the season. But a late power goal in the second and early power play goal in the third helped the IceCats tie the game at 2-2. But Keegan Kitts, Tryton Parmely and Logan Anderson’s first varsity goal all scored in the third period to propel the Caps to a win, the third in a row. Jaxon Jungwirth made 25 saves on 27 shots in net.

On Sunday, Camron Lee would get a pass from Keller Shaw and take it from his own blue line to a partial breakaway and score the game’s first goal as Oahe led 1-0 after one. Then it was Huron who scored three straight goals to lead it 3-1 with 11 minutes remaining in the second. But it was all the All-Stars would get. Parmely and Dodson each would score late in the second to tie the game as Dodson scored early in the third to net the game winner, but the Caps added on for good measure. Kitts and Anderson along with Ian Schweitzer’s first varsity goal would secure the win as Oahe went 2-3 on the power play and did not take a penalty in the game. Jungwirth made 16 saves on 19 shots. The Caps improve to 4-3 on the season.

Oahe will have the next weekend off and will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, January 4 and 5 with a 7:15 puck drop against Sioux Falls East Saturday and a 10:45 AM puck drop on Sunday against Sioux Falls West.
