The Stanley County Buffaloes remain at home again tonight as the Winner Warriors will come to town for a doubleheader as both teams are looking for its second win of the season.
The Warrior girls team dropped its first game of the season with a 71-57 loss to Wagner on Friday. Winner finished at 16-5 last season, but dropped its SoDak 16 game to Vermillion 60-30. The Warriors, in 7A, lost four seniors from last year’s squad but will still have five this year. Keelie Kull and Cora Moss are both senior captains for the Warriors. Stanley County is 1-2 dropping its Thursday and Saturday games to Miller and White River. Winner beat Stanley County a year ago 61-31.
Both boys teams are 1-0 to start the season after Winner beat Wagner 51-49 in overtime on Friday. Stanley County finished off a 54-41 win over Miller last Thursday. Stanley County will certainly get a good test tonight after the Warriors went 17-5 losing three to graduation. Shawn Hammerbeck returns for the Warriors as one of five seniors. There can be a lot of seed points up for grabs for both teams.
Tip off of the girls game will be at 6:30 with the boys game to follow at the Parkview Auditorium in Fort Pierre.
