PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is holding a special meeting Thursday morning with a single item on it’s agenda. The Commission is set to discuss personnel issues. The meeting is not connected to the city’s search for a new airport manager. The city posted the job opening of Airport Manager on November 25th and hired on a seasonal, temporary basis former City Engineer John Childs December 3rd. Childs has served as interim airport manager before, during previous airport manager transitions. City officials confirmed Brian Cowles, was brought on to replace Cameron Howard as Airport Manager in March of 2023, recently resigned from the position. Howard served as Airport Manager from March of 2020 to March of 2023 and replaced long time manager Mike Isaacs. Isaacs managed Pierre’s airport for 11 years before taking a similar job in Lewiston, Idaho. Cowles served as airport manager in Branson, Missouri for a year before coming to Pierre.
