The Brookings Rangers would get a 6-0 shutout win over the Oahe Capitals girls varsity team on Saturday in Brookings as the Caps fall for the first time this season.
The Capitals were stymied by Rorii Quam who had a 31 save shutout, her first of the season as the offense just couldn’t get one through. Emily Meyer would open the scoring in the first period with a one-timer in the slot. Sawyer Triplett would get a back breaking goal at the end of the first period as the Caps were unable to clear or cover the puck after the Rangers had multiple chances around the net. Triplett would get a wraparound goal to make it 2-0 at the end of the first. Anna Rasmussen would get both goals in the second and finish off the hat trick in the third as the Rangers would enact run time in the final three and a half minutes. Sophia Peschong made 23 saves on 28 shots while Kylee Fromm would make five saves on the final six shots.
Oahe is now 2-1 on the season and will get a three game weekend all against Sioux Center. Friday’s game will be at 6:00 with Saturday’s game at 1:15 and Sunday’s game at 11:30. All games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
