Capitals Pepper Rushmore in Weekend Sweep

The Oahe Capitals girls varsity team would once again get over 50 shots on goal on Sunday and finish off a weekend sweep with a 7-2 win over the Rushmore Thunder.

Seven different players would score on Sunday. Rushmore would score first just a minute and 17 seconds into the game, but Emily Nemec would tie the game only 42 seconds later as the Capitals would strike for two more goals over the next nine minutes as Kiersten Miller would score on the power play and Kallee Behm would pick up a 3-1 lead. Addison Hunsley and Katie Reiss would each score in the second as the Caps would lead 5-2 after two. Brylee Kafka and Dakota McEntaffer would finish off the scoring in the win. Ava Lavinger would get three assists while Mallory Lehrkamp had two and Aubrey Stewart, Raegan Pfeifer and Brenna Ullman each had an assist for 12 of the 15 skaters to pick up a point. Kylee Fromm made eight saves on 10 shots in her first career varsity start and win.

The Capitals are now 2-0 on the season while Rushmore drops to 0-5. Oahe will travel to face the Brookings Rangers next Saturday for a single game on the road. Coverage will start at 1:25 with puck drop at 1:45 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
