The Oahe Capitals Girls Varsity would dominate the Rushmore Thunder in the first game of the season on Saturday afternoon in Rapid City with a 6-0 shutout.
Sophia Peschong would make nine saves on nine shots to open the season with a shutout as the Capitals would pepper 52 shots on Rushmore goalie Bristol Simmons. The Capitals would get five different goal scorers and eight different players on the score sheet in the win. Brylee Kafka would open the scoring in the first period as Raegan Pfiefer and Elliot Bertsch would assist to make it 1-0 after one. Katie Reiss would make it 2-0, Kallee Behm would make it 3-0 in her first varsity goal before Kakfa made it 4-0 after two periods. Ava Lavinger, Emily Nemec and Kafka all would get assists in the second. Mallory Lehrkamp would score to open the third and Nemec would add on the final goal to get the last 3:44 in run time. Kafka finished with four points while Lavinger, Behm and Nemec each had two.
Oahe will look for a weekend sweep on Sunday with a 12:30 puck drop and coverage starting at 12:10 Central Time on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
