The Oahe Capital girls varsity team will begin the season this Saturday and Sunday with a trip out to Rapid City to face the Rushmore Thunder.
The Thunder have already played three games, all in Sioux Falls over the past weekend, but dropped all three games to the Flyers. The Thunder lost 7-3 on Friday, 9-1 on Saturday and 12-0 on Sunday. Evan Woods had two goals while Adyson Carlson and Avery Eggers each had a goal. Rushmore lost its top goal scorer in Paige Zimiga, but return its second leading scorer in Mallory Chisolm.
The Capitals return all but two players from last year’s team. Oahe beat Rushmore twice last season with a 6-3 win in Rapid and a 3-2 win at home. At 8-5-1 last season, the Capitals are looking to get off to a good start but Jim Wedin, head coach of the Oahe Capitals says Rushmore is a good team…
Wedin says no matter how Saturday goes, the challenge will be moving on from the day before…
Coverage Saturday begins at 12:40 Central Time with puck drop at 1:00 and then at 12:10 with puck drop at 12:30 on Sunday. Both games are on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
