Area Law Enforcement Respond Wednesday To Hughes County Courthouse

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A mental health situation brought a large law enforcement presence to the Hughes County Courthouse around one-pm. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says units from both the Pierre Police Department and Hughes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the north parking lot at the courthouse for an incident involving a reported firearm. Pelle says due to the serious nature of the report a large presence of law enforcement responded. The situation was resolved quickly and no one was injured. Since the incident involved a mental health issue, no further information about the incident is being released by authorities.
