Madison Man Arrested After Leading Police On Slow Pursuit Sunday

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Madison, South Dakota man is arrested Sunday night by Pierre police after leading law enforcement on a slow speed pursuit through Pierre. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were dispatched around 6:45 pm to a traffic complaint of a possibly impaired driver who was swerving and tailgating other drivers near the intersection of Pierre Street and Sioux Avenue. Officers tried to stop the vehicle near Capitol and Ash Avenues but the driver, identified by police as 33 year-old Justin Olson of Madison did not stop. Multiple law enforcement units were following Olson with lights and sirens on. Olson finally stopped near Oneida Avenue and Pleasant Drive. Olson was found by officers to have been drinking alcohol. He was arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges including Second Offense D-U-I, Driving with a Suspended License, Eluding, Failure to Maintain Insurance, No Seat belt, Open Container, Stop Sign Violation and Unsafe Lane Change.
