PIERRE, (KCCR) — Two people were injured and one was cited by Pierre police following a two-vehicle crash on Garfield Avenue. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers responded on September 3rd around 10-am to the intersection of Garfield Avenue and East Elizabeth Street in Pierre for an injury crash. An investigation into the crash determined a Lincoln S-U-V driven by 70 year-old Rodney Miller of Pierre was driving south on Garfield and attempted to turn left onto Elizabeth. Miller then attempted to turn left into the SuperWash car wash when he crashed with a Nissan Rouge driven by a 51 year-old female. The driver of the Nissan was transported to Avera St. Mary’s hospital by ambulance. Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were disabled by the crash and required removal by tow trucks. Miller was ticketed by police for failure to yield. The length of the crash investigation withheld the release of crash information by police.
