Fort Pierre Man Convicted Of Multiple Sex Crimes Against Children

FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Fort Pierre man has been convicted on multiple counties of rape, sexual contact and incest in Stanley County. Attorney General Marty Jackley says 46 year-old Donnie Edwards has been convicted of nine felony counts involving two different children. Edwards was convicted Thursday and found guilty on four counts of First Degree Rape, one count of Fourth Degree Rape, two counts of Aggravated Incest and count of Incest and one count of Sexual Contract with a Child Under 16 Years Old. Jackley says the crimes date back to as early as 2007 and ending in 2022, Edwards could be sentenced to life in prison on the charges. A sentencing date has not been determined. The case was investigated by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office and Stanley County Sheriff’s Office. The case was joint prosecuted between the Attorney General’s Office and Stanley County States Attorney’s Office.
