Pierre Post 8 would get 24 runs on only 11 hits as Box Elder would allow too many walks and hit batters and the Eights would make them pay sweep Post 315 11-2 and 13-3 on Sunday at Hyde Stadium.
Cooper Terwilliger would get an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second to get the Eights on the board first and Pierre wouldn’t look back from there. Carter Schiefelbein would drive in two runs while Sutton Sonnenschein, Grayson Hunsley, Charlie Simpson and Dawson Getz each would drive in a run as Simpson and Getz would double. Box Elder would get a solo homer from Colton Morlang in the top of the fifth as Miles Doyle would go six innings alloing just three hits, two runs on three walks and three strikeouts. Trevor Rounds threw 12 pitches in the top of the seventh going 1-2-3 with two strikeouts. Box Elder allowed eight walks and four hit batters.
In game two, Pierre had just four hits, but Schiefelbein would double home two runs with JJ Bucholz driving in two runs on two hits and George Stalley singling home another run as Pierre had just five RBIs, but scored 13 runs. Box Elder had four errors including a throwing error to score the final run of the game in the sixth inning. Cooper Terwilliger would five and 1/3 innings allowing just six hits, three runs on four walks and five strikeouts. Rounds threw just two pitches completing the final two outs in the sixth and combining to get all five batters he faced out on just 14 pitches in total. Box Elder would walk nine Eights players and hit another seven for 16 free passes and a grand total of 28 walks and hit batters in two games.
Pierre improves to 6-20 and 5-12 in South Dakota games. The Eights will host the Post 22 Expos on Wednesday for a doubleheader. First pitch is at 3:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
